Banks, Cement and Fertilizers Power the KSE-100's 4.49% Weekly Gain Despite Friday's Dip
For the week ended Friday, 6 November 2026, the KSE-100 index delivered a net gain of 7,477.44 points (+4.49%), rising from 166,409.25 at the end of October to 173,886.69. The advance was anchored by institutional accumulation in three core sectors: commercial banks, cement and fertilizers.
Even though those same heavyweights saw mild profit-taking in Friday's final session, they accounted for the bulk of the week's point gains.
What happened
Easing geopolitical fears in the region and a sharp mid-week retreat in global oil prices improved the inflation outlook, drawing domestic mutual funds and institutions back into high-dividend fertilizer names (such as FFC and Engro) and major lenders (including UBL, MCB and HBL). Cement stocks such as Lucky Cement also rallied on expectations that lower coal and fuel costs would support gross margins.
Why it matters for traders
- Index rallies on the PSX require the "Big Three" sectors. Banks, fertilizers and oil/cement make up the majority of KSE-100 index weight; sustainable breakouts rarely happen without them.
- Dividend yield provides a floor. Fertilizer and banking stocks with strong cash payouts tend to attract institutional buyers quickly on dips.
- Weekly closes smooth out daily noise. Looking at the +4.49% weekly candle shows a clear recovery structure despite Friday's -0.85% close.
What to watch
- Support around 172,000–173,000 on the KSE-100 as the new weekly base.
- Fertilizer urea offtake numbers and cement dispatch trends for November.
