Binance Users Pull a Net $3.64 Billion After Record Hack as Withdrawals Reopen
The Biggest Exchange Hack on Record
Attackers drained an estimated $6.3-6.4 billion from Binance in late October 2026, the largest exchange breach reported to date.
The withdrawal wave
Binance restarted withdrawals in phases on 1 November. According to the exchange:
- Withdrawals: about $4.65 billion
- Deposits: about $1.01 billion
- Net outflow: roughly $3.64 billion
Ethereum made up the largest share of withdrawals; Bitcoin outflows were about $1.47 billion.
Why it matters
When users move coins off a large exchange at once, it tests that exchange's reserves and can push prices down if users sell. So far Binance has processed the outflows.
A lesson in custody
"Not your keys, not your coins." Large exchanges are convenient, but they concentrate risk. Learning how self-custody works is part of trading crypto safely.
