KSE-100 Heads Into a Holiday-Shortened Week After Its Strongest Rally in Months

8 November 2026

The KSE-100 closed Friday 6 November at about 173,887, down a little on the day but up roughly 4.5% for the week. It was the index's strongest weekly gain in a while, and a rebound from the 166,000 level it held the previous Friday. Next week is shorter than usual. The Pakistan Stock Exchange is closed on Monday 9 November for Allama Iqbal Day, so the next session is Tuesday 10 November.

What happened

Last week's rally had three drivers: falling oil prices, a sense that inflation was easing, and lower geopolitical tension in the Gulf. Oil fell sharply after the US midterm results, and that relief was a big positive for Pakistan, which imports most of its energy. Banks, cement and fertiliser stocks led the gains. Friday was the only down session of the week, and 78 of the 100 KSE-100 stocks fell that day, which suggests the profit-taking was broad rather than concentrated.

Why it matters for traders

What to watch

Because the market is shut on Monday, the first signal comes on Tuesday 10 November. Watch whether banks and cement hold their gains, and whether the index can close back above 175,000. A break below the recent 166,000 to 170,000 zone would suggest the rally has run out of steam for now.
