KSE-100 Climbs Above 168,000 as Oil Eases and US-Iran Talk Hopes Grow

4 November 2026

The KSE-100 index closed 1,454.80 points higher at 168,018.87 on 3 November, a gain of about 0.87%. The index had closed at 166,564 on 2 November, so Tuesday's session took it back above the 168,000 mark. Early trade on 4 November pushed it further, with the benchmark near 169,000 by mid-morning, up roughly 0.6%. Sources report the 3 November close slightly differently, so the exact figure should be treated as approximate.

What happened

Two outside factors drove the rally. International oil prices fell, which eases the external pressure on Pakistan's import bill. At the same time, investors grew more hopeful about potential negotiations between the United States and Iran. Local media also described buying across key sectors on the day. The rally came after a stretch of weak sessions in late October, when the index had been slipping for weeks before a weekly gain the week of 30 October.

The index's 52-week high is 191,032.73, so the current level remains well below the peak. That gap matters for anyone reading the rally as a full recovery rather than a rebound.

Why it matters for traders

What to watch

Watch whether the KSE-100 holds above 168,000 at the close, and whether oil continues to fall. Any fresh news on US-Iran diplomacy will likely move the index as much as local company results. The US midterm outcome may also shift global risk sentiment in the coming sessions.
